WHEN DAFFODILS BLOOM
My heart leaped with delight
when I caught sight
Their golden heads seemed to shout,
There they stood in a row,
bringing merriment after winter’s cold and snow.
See those dark green blades and bright faces
proclaiming Spring in outdoor places.
Listen as their yellow trumpets’ blare….
“We have arrived and Spring is here!”
My heart with pleasure fills
as I say, “Welcome Springtime, and the daffodils.”
It is God who created all things. It is God who makes the beautiful Springtime. He is the One who sends the rain to wash the earth, to kiss the flowers and anoint green things with freshness. He is the One who set the music in the throat of the meadowlark.
When I think of the love of Jesus and how He brings an eternal Springtime to the human heart, it is then that my heart cries out for a portion of that love. How about you?
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold
and heat, and winter and summer (and Spring), and day
and night shall not cease.” – Genesis 8:22
I’VE BEEN THERE!
Life has its range of experiences. Too often we feel that no one knows or cares when we have bad days, but be encouraged to know that Jesus knows exactly how you feel. He understands every experience of life. The chorus of Jesus’ theme song is “I’ve been there!”
To the lonely, Jesus says, “I felt loneliness, especially the hours when I stood before Pilate and Herod, and everyone was against me. Also, how I missed My Father those thirty-three years I spent on earth.”
To the discouraged, He says, “I knew discouragement! It hurt Me to know that I had come to my own people and they rejected me!”
To the weary and heavy laden, Jesus explains,”I too became tired! Many of my days were packed full, with crowds and people pressing on Me day after day, and begging for My help. My nights were short, and I arose early in the morning to be refreshed by praying to My Father.”
To the hurting and suffering, He says, “No one ever suffered like I did those last two days of my earthly life! It wasn’t only physical pain. I had the burden of the world’s sins laid on Me, and I felt the mental anguish of what sin had done to humanity. It tore at both My body and My soul!”
To those who have known terror, “What terror I felt that night in the Garden of Gethsemane! I even sweat drops of blood!”
To the afraid and fearful, “That night in the Upper Room was a tense time for Me. I knew what lay ahead for Me, but the future for my friends lay heavy on my heart.”
Because Jesus experienced all these difficult times, today there is good news for you and me, for He says, “I’ve known bad times, and I conquered them. Today you have Me and all things are possible when you have Me! You don’t have to face them alone. I want to remind you that I even conquered death!”
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. – I Corinthians 15:57
